Not looking to win any SPL comps, just something that gives me good bass and doesn't take up the entire back end of my truck lol
Also, I remember you said something about 3/4" MDF being better to use for sub boxes, but what about 1/2"? would also be a bit lighter for sure lol
|
1.75 to 2.25 cubes after port and sub for each speaker works good for type r's 12's
my older brother has a type r 12 in a 1.25 sealed box and 600w amp and it doesn't hit for s hit, its a pre-fab box from bb so that could also be it
i tired 1/2in mdf on a sealed box for 4 re audio re-8's and 1/2in flexed and made some not pretty sounds from flexing so hard, i trashed the box
3/4 or thicker is better to use

ok, I think I'm gonna go with a 2 cube, to get right in between... do you need dimensions of my truck's space again? also, how much space is a box like that gonna take up? I'm looking to go with something where i can still use the back of the truck if I want, soooo maybe like a false floor box or something lol i dunno
I just hooked up a buddy's system with 2 Rs with my amp tonight, so I don't have one anymore (he is very likely to buy it off me so I'm gonna need to buy a new amp).. it reminded me of how much I miss my bass lol

jake, i'm kinda thinking i want a different box for my goat. I've been reading up on it, there are people making custom ones (fiberglass) and i've been down that road before... but i'll decide in the next week or two

ok here's what I have for actual space I'm willing to lose:
36" between wheel wells x 26" between back seats and tailgate x 16" between the floor and top of back seats.
Now I was thinking most of the day, and I want to do something like a sub-back port-back arrangement, with the two subs side-by-side and the port across the top, utilizing more of the seat-to-floor space rather than the seat-to-tailgate space, and as wide as it needs to be between the wheel wells.
I also just measured my old box... 38x28x17 freakin bigger than I thought
misc measurements for the Type R (I just checked these)
sub outer diameter: 12 5/8" sub box approximate hole diameter: 11 1/4"
