troy, jake, any thoughts on kenwood decks... ddx-8017 specifically, we'll say that i have some parts that an individual needs, and he has a deck... it looks good but the standard of decks seems to be the pinoneer avic-d3 as it has gps built in while the ddx does not but has the capability.... but then, its anchorage its not like i haven't lived here my whole life anyways and can find my way around pretty easy

ok guys! need some major help. I just found out what is causing some of my driveline problems, and it turns out I need all new gearing in my rear differential. now! where are some good places, and what is a general price range I should expect to pay to have all the gears replace, shimmed, and whatever else? and please, tell me all of them you can think of, cuz I want this done right the first time, not some shitty wackoff job. I'll have some pics in a while of my gears... they're kinda fvcked up lol

um just get a replacement axle from either northwest or Don's. buy the time you put new gears in you might as well put in a carrier cause that's going to go over time. So you looking in 5-600 in parts plus another 2-300 in labor.

hmmm looks like someone has been doing some burn outs on soft stuff to hard stuff. You might beable to get away with new spider gears if the ring and pinion are fine.

YES! this is what I like to hear.. now, if I do get those four new, and leave the shims as they are right now, can I just put the new gears in and call it good??? Also, the ring and pinion are the two that transfer the power directly from the drive shaft to the differential gears right?
That also tells me that on top of not keeping up with the front suspension lubing, they weren't exactly nice to the truck before I bought it lol.. Cuz I know I haven't done any burnouts with it. I baby the shit outta my truck.

yes the ring is on the carrier. If those are fine no chips/chunks then they are fine. Just replace the internals. That is a cheap fix. You'll probly be fine. stop doin the burnouts!!!

sounds like someone forgot to change diff oil,
90w with over 100k miles is what im guessing
how much oil did you pull out of the diff?
i can't tell from the 60-60 pictures you took, but
does it look like the gear over heated a bit?
peace

The diff was about 3/4" from the fill hole, so maybe a bit low. and yea the fluid was a bit... well, black lol. I don't know about overheated, but it is a possibility. As for changing the fluid? I know I never did anything with it, so more than likely it hasn't been changed in a looooong time. While I'm at it, I'm also replacing the wheel bearings and axle seals. Also, for some reason, I have an aftermarket drive shaft???
Soo, I'll be heading over to Youngs tomorrow and get some new gears and hopefully u-joints for the drive shaft... hopefully have the truck running great again by the end of the week!
On another note, I found my exhaust leak.. the y-pipe is cracked. would anyone here be willing to weld that up? if you need a pic I can go snap one real quick.

yea, i have to my rear diff. fluid as well. There seems to be a great debate as to use Gm's friction modifier or to use royal purple or similar with it built in, as our local parts departments have to special order the friction modifier

im not
a$$ backwards ford 100%
did you know the timing is set bdc on a ford?
and not tdc like on a chevy and on the balancer it has timing marks every 120deg's, no fuking idea what the fuk those 120deg marks are for because they don't line up with bdc
but i hate ford even more now
so i got it to bdc and marked it with a white marker pen and that was my timing mark
fuk!!!! ford!!!! but on a postive note, the pos inline 6 300 ford is running
