The member of the month for October goes to Acehaag!
And here is why. Recently Mike and I added corvette brake rotors to the front of my truck, 2" bigger in diameter from stock. New brackets had to be made to move the brake caliper out to fit around the bigger rotors. Mike milled out the brackets for these and they turned out awesome. So the new setup goes like this: the brackets bolt to the spindle and then the calipers bolt onto the bracket, which adds 2 more bolts per side.
I have been running this setup for 2,000 miles now with perfect results, but then today while on the highway i heard something bouncing under my truck off of the ground. I soon found out that one of the bolts for the caliper fell out (my fault). So evertime i hit the brakes it made a bad grinding sound as the caliper shifted and rubbed on the metal instead of the pad. It was the upper bolt so when i went forward, the rotation of the rotor pulled the caliper in but when i went backwards, it pushed the caliper away and into my wheel.
I forgot to say that this happened when i was 50 miles from home, about an hour. I didnt want to risk driving it home and having the other bolt fall out leaving me stranded at 11:00. So i called Mike up and asked him what he thought of the situation and what i should do. He offered to drive out with tools and a spare bolt to fix it. So he drove all the way out which is over an hour for him and we got it all fixed up and now I am home safe thanks to him.
