******* Newbie!

I did not see a section for classics, so i figured I would post here...

If anyone can help, please speak up. A friend owns a 1970 Chevrolet pickup, needs to replace the front fenders. Found a set in perfect condition from a guy over 100 miles away for a 1970 GMC... will they fit and work right? are they interchangable?

Thanks....

Jr

Boy are we late on this one. Sorry, Junior, but from some quick searching for parts, it seems that they should be. Some sites say GMC or Chevy, and it wouldn't surprise me if they are indeed interchangeable since so many GM truck parts have been that way for a long time.

Might want to ask the seller for pictures just to make sure. They might help your friend make his decision. If the friend has already resolved this issue, let us know. Tell us what you learned. Hope that helped.

They look to be pretty close to the same thing. however i cannot be sure on this without comparing the two physically

According to LMC, GMC uses a different fender.

GMC fender is #8 and the Chevy one is #9.

The difference appears to be where it meets the grill.

Good find. I stand corrected, I think.

Yup, even though they are an expensive place to buy parts from, LMC has useful catalogs.

they both will work .. bolt up the same but there are some cosmetic differences to them, if you change both sides it wouldnt matter much but if you only do one side it would be noticable.

If the grille sits differently on the GMC like it appears it does, then it would still not fit properly unless you changed to a GM grille also
