Would you guys prefer I stay with the "sandstone" color that my truck came with, or maybe move to a darker shade of blue?

I like blue, but only if you're gonna do a color change correctly.
I'd stay the factory color instead of doing a cheap color switch.

I agree Steve on this, switching colors should only be done if you cover every place the factory color will be seen.

True. Also I won't have to do the door jams again and maybe I'll just do the right side of the truck where the damage is.
I just figured that since my hood needs to be painted, bumper, fender, door, 3rd door, C pillar, and right side bed lol might as well get it done right
