i just got somewhat of an okay that i can do some work on dads truck, its a 96 ext cab dually sierra with a 7.4, does anyone know of some lower cost, effective performance mods to do other than a cold air kit, also i would like to hear some tuner suggestions, it may be getting ported heads and an exhaust as well.

also a higher ration rocker arm would simulate a bigger cam without getting inside the engine, although they cost quite a bit

Those TBI engines are finicky. I would suggest an intake, headers and full exhaust. If you install a camshaft you will have to send the computer off to get re-flashed and there is no telling if the tune will be on or not.

I believe tuner cats now supports these computer/prom modules now though. I am not sure so do not quote me.

It's TBI? Here I thought it had the same gay spider setup as a 96 4.3! I'd put multi-port on it anyway.

Yeah I would do a good intake, exhaust, maybe a cam depending on how in-depth you want to go. Definately a tune though.
