Has anyone put a diesel into an s10. I am planning on doing this in the future no matter how much work it is... I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect. I was thinking maybe a Cummins BT4.

Its been done a few times, (I believe one member has a 6.5L in his S10).A mechanical 4bt would be a great choice. Its relatively compact, can use all of the after market parts found for the 6bt, bell housing adapters are common for GM transmissions, and it would require a minimum of wiring.

I've never seen one, but it would be pretty cool to see one.

hey thanks guys, I also found a whole forum on 4bt and 6bt swaps in all kinds of vehicles so I'm going to poke around in there for a while. Don't get your hopes up for me to do this anytime soon though I'm going to have to finish college before I have the money or the time to do it.

A 4bt would make a great choice, just plan carefully since they weigh about 800 pounds and are very tall.

Yeah both of those issues worry me. I also want to bag it, so I'm not sure if I will be able to have my cake and eat it too.

I don't see why not, height should not be a problem unless you are body dropping and there are shallower oil pans available as well....as far as weight it will be heaver but that should not be that big of a hindrance.

my dad just did a 4bt into his 84 f/s chevy single cab

turbo and innercooler and all, but he's still working on the wiring
because he swapped dashes from a 77 that had a tech in the stock gauges around the wheel

runs alot better then the 292 inline 6 he had before and more power
